EuroCohort conference in Lisbon this Thursday

EuroCohort conference in Lisbon this Thursday
10.09.2019

This Thursday the 12th of September a conference “Longitudinal statistics: science and public policy” will be held at the University Institute of Lisbon.

The goal of the event is to create awareness and underpin the importance of longitudinal studies to support public policy design. Social reality is constantly changing as a result of globalization, technological innovations, the cycles of economic and financial crisis and of environmental change. Understanding how all these changes affect contemporary society through quality statistical data is of paramount importance in anticipating future outcomes and thereby underpinning the design and implementation of population-oriented policies.

Longitudinal studies are the best tool to analyse patterns of change in the life trajectories of individuals and more deeply understand the correlations with the variables to study throughout the life cycle. Longitudinal data may therefore provide evidence to support public policies and the respective further evaluation.

The conference has already drawn the attention of many local policymakers and academics but everybody is welcome to join the discussion on Thursday. See the program here.
