On 14th of June Universities of Jyväskylä and Helsinki organized a seminar titled “EuroCohort - towards a comparative Europe wide cohort survey on child and youth well-being” with the goal to present EuroCohort to scientists and policy makers in Finland.
The seminar started with a talk by Finnish Child Ombudsman Elina Pekkarinen who stressed the importance of research data for advancing child and youth well-being and continued with a presentation by EuroCohort coordinator Gary Pollock (MMU) who introduced the idea of EuroCohort. After a brief break for discussion, the event continued with three presentations discussing the existing data on child and youth well-being in Finland. Prof. Lea Pulkkinen (Jyväskylä University) talked about Jyväskylä longitudinal study of personality and social development, Prof. Jani Erola (University of Turku) discussed the possibilities of using registry data to study child and youth well-being and Reija Klemetti (The National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL)) introduced School Health Promotion Study.
