Recently the 3rd issue of EuroCohort working paper titled “Social Integration as a Dimension of Foreign Students’ Wellbeing in Italy” was published. The authors of the paper are Daniela Cocchi and Francesco Giovinazzi from University of Bologna.
Anticipating the challenges of the Eurocohort survey, the authors present an example of use of administrative information, after data collection, to enhance the estimation of parameters in special subgroups of the target population. In 2015, the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) carried out the first survey on “Integration of the second generation” (ISG). The study aimed at investigating the many different dimensions of second generation social inclusion (such as education, relationships, language, and household conditions). In the working paper the authors propose to use auxiliary information from official administrative data sources to improve the estimates of the perceived level of social integration of foreign students in the Italian school system.
EuroCohort Working Papers are peer-reviewed outputs from European Cohort Development Project, published either in English or in national languages. The aim of the working paper series is to communicate the projects findings to a diverse audience, especially to academic researchers, policy-makers and practitioners.
