12.05.2018

In the context of the Jean Monnet Chair SAMPLEU Workshop on "Small Area Methods and living conditions indicators in European poverty studies in the era of data deluge and Big data" in Pisa (8-10 May 2018), the University of Bologna (UNIBO) presented the European Cohort Development Project, emphasizing the role of novel statistical methods in assessing children's well-being. The workshop aimed to explore how current scientific advances on studying and monitoring poverty and living conditions in various dimensions are linked in order to support EU regional policies. One of the main objective was to reflect on the future research needs in terms of statistical methodologies and new data and contribute to defining future pathways for the new EU Framework Programme. The audience included important European universities and international organizations, among others, representatives of the World Bank, the OECD, Eurostat, and JRC-Ispra, 3 National Statistics Officies (Istat, CBS, Statistical Office Poland), and several Italian policy makers.
