The Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University of Essex specialises in the production and analysis of longitudinal survey data. It is a world-leading centre of expertise in survey methods, with dedicated PhD and MSc programmes and 5*-rated research in sample design, nonresponse, survey measurement, and analysis methods – all topics that are central to the core tasks of ECDP. The UK’s flagship social science data resource, Understanding Society: the UK Household Longitudinal Study, is based at ISER and ISER’s academic staff have also acted in an advisory capacity to many other panel and cohort studies around the world. Substantive research expertise at ISER encompasses poverty, wellbeing, finances, health, education, employment, attitudes and migration.
